Scottie Scheffler’s Birdie-Bogey Spree Leads PGA Championship Second Round: Golf’s Race to Par Starts Off Strong

Scottie Scheffler is currently leading the second round of the PGA Championship with a solid start. Just hours after his arrest, he recorded a birdie, bogey, birdie, and par over his first four holes. Despite landing in the rough near a bunker on his first shot of the day, Scheffler quickly set up a birdie putt and made it onto the green.

As he continued through the course, Scheffler had two-putts for bogey on the 11th hole after missing the green with his tee shot but bounced back with another birdie on the 12th. He then had a solid performance at the par-4 13th hole, keeping him at 5-under and trailing leader Xander Schauffele by four shots.

Golf is all about completing each hole in as few strokes as possible. Par refers to the expected number of strokes needed to complete a hole while a birdie indicates one fewer stroke than par and a bogey represents one extra stroke.
