On June 16, 2024, the Blue Earth Area School Board made a significant decision during their meeting on Monday, June 10. The decision will lead to the question of whether to build a new K-6 building being included on the ballot for the Nov. 6 General Election.

Meanwhile, Kari Jacobson accepted the job as the auditor/treasurer for Faribault County. For Jacobson, this job opportunity meant a return to the area where she was born and raised. She shared, “I grew up in Kiester and graduated from high school there in 1981. After I graduated, I headed north to what at that time was my dream job.”

In another news piece from June 16, 2024, a former First Financial Bank, Winnebago employee named Maggie Kay Hassing was charged with one count of embezzlement by a bank employee. The indictment was released in the United States District Court, District of Minnesota in St. Paul revealing the charges against Hassing.
