Scholz Urges European Governments to Prioritize 5G Network Expansion for Global Competitiveness and Security

Europe must stay ahead in 5G technology.

In Stockholm, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasized the importance of expanding the 5G mobile network in Europe to maintain competitiveness globally. He praised progressive technology companies like Ericsson and Nokia for their success in Europe and worldwide, highlighting their presence at the Nordic summit on security and competitiveness.

During his visit to Ericsson, Scholz was joined by leaders from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. There is ongoing debate about whether European governments should restrict the use of components from Chinese companies like Huawei and ZTE in their 5G networks. However, Scholz emphasized the need for security features when discussing 5G technology with Nokia in Berlin.

Scholz’s message at the summit was clear – Europe must prioritize the expansion of the 5G network to maintain competitiveness and security in the global arena while leveraging the expertise of its telecommunications companies.
