Schauffele Soars to New Heights in Golf Career with PGA Championship Victory

Xander Schauffele Climbs to No. 2 in the World Rankings; Bryson DeChambeau Makes Big Jump

Xander Schauffele has recently achieved a major milestone in his golf career. His victory at the PGA Championship catapulted him to the number two spot in the Official World Golf Ranking, surpassing Rory McIlroy. This impressive achievement marks the highest ranking of his career, and he maintains his position as the second-best player in the world.

Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler still holds on to the top spot with a significant lead over Schauffele. At 30 years old, Schauffele has consistently been ranked within the top five players in the OWGR throughout his career. However, this recent victory has propelled him to new heights.

Bryson DeChambeau also made a significant jump back into the top 40 following his performance at the LIV tour. His runner-up finish at Valhalla Golf Club saw him climb from 124th to 35th, and previously he was ranked 210th before placing tied for sixth at the Masters. Despite not receiving world-ranking points from this tournament, DeChambeau’s strong performance still helped him improve his standing in the rankings.

Following the PGA Championship, two notable players moved into the elite group of top 60 players in the world rankings that secured spots in the upcoming major, U.S. Open scheduled for June 13-16: Thomas Detry (54 from 71) and Justin Rose (56 from 68). These players tied for fourth and sixth respectively after their strong performances that saw them crack into this exclusive group. Players still have an opportunity to qualify for this prestigious championship by cracking into the top 60 in OWGR after Memorial Tournament concludes on June 9.

Overall, these achievements highlight Schauffele’s impressive talent and determination to excel in golf, while also demonstrating how even minor setbacks can have a significant impact on a player’s ranking and opportunities for success on both local and global stages
