Universal Studios in Discussions with Scarlett Johansson for Role in Gareth Edwards’ ‘Jurassic World’ Film

After finding success as Black Widow in the Marvel movies, Scarlett Johansson is now looking to become a part of another major movie franchise. The actress is currently in talks to join the Gareth Edwards-directed reboot of Jurassic Park at Universal.

Jurassic World, which will be produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment and Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley through Kennedy-Marshall, is set for a release date of July 2, 2025. David Koepp is writing the latest iteration of the film, which will be a fresh take on the Jurassic era. While cast members from previous Jurassic World movies are not expected to return, fans can expect a new generation of characters to take center stage.

The Jurassic Park franchise has been incredibly successful since its inception 30 years ago, grossing over $1.67 billion at the global box office. The first movie was followed by two sequels before being revived in 2015 with Jurassic World.

Aside from her work on blockbuster films like Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel, Johansson has received critical acclaim for her roles in Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit. She even earned Oscar nominations for those performances.
