Scarlett Johansson in negotiations to star in upcoming Jurassic World film

Scarlett Johansson is reportedly in talks to star in an upcoming Jurassic World movie. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the two-time Oscar nominee is being considered for a lead role in the next installment of the popular dinosaur franchise. The potential role would follow in the footsteps of her Marvel co-star Chris Pratt, who headlined the previous films.

Chris Pratt led the 2015 movie Jurassic World and its two sequels, the most recent of which saw the return of original cast members Sam Neill and Laura Dern. The film was a massive success, grossing over $1 billion worldwide. The new movie will be helmed by director Gareth Edwards, known for his work on films like The Creator starring John David Washington and Rogue One.

The script for the upcoming film comes from David Koepp, who penned the screenplay for the original Jurassic Park in 1993. Originally, the project was set to be directed by David Leitch of Bullet Train fame, but he departed in February. The movie is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2025, with production gearing up to start soon.

In addition to the Jurassic World project, Scarlett Johansson has been keeping busy with other film and television roles. She recently starred in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City and Kristin Scott Thomas’s North Star, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. Johansson will also be seen alongside Channing Tatum in an upcoming romantic comedy set during the 1960s space race. Plus, she is set to headline the TV series remake of the legal thriller Just Cause, written by Oscar-winner Cord Jefferson.

The Jurassic franchise has been a huge box office success, earning over $6 billion worldwide across all films
