In 2023, SCA Health, the ASC arm of Optum based in Deerfield, Illinois, made two significant acquisitions in the cardiovascular care space. National Cardiovascular Partners and Pivotal Healthcare were both added to the SCA Health portfolio.
National Cardiovascular Partners is a group of 21 cardiac catheterization and vascular labs that were previously owned by Fresenius Medical Care. After the sale, the group is now part of SCA Health. Dr. Andrei Damian, a cardiologist, expressed excitement about the collaboration with National Cardiovascular Partners, highlighting the potential for successful outcomes in clinical expertise and strategic business.
In July 2023, SCA Health also acquired Pivotal Healthcare, a cardiovascular care platform based in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Pivotal Healthcare has 11 affiliate practices and 14 locations. With these acquisitions, SCA Health currently operates over 320 ASCs in the United States, making it one of the largest ASC chains in the country.
