Sanford Health and UND Join Forces for Enhanced Student-Athlete Health and Wellness

Partnership announced between Sanford and University of North Dakota

Sanford Health and the University of North Dakota have officially announced a partnership that will begin on July 1, 2024. Under this partnership, Sanford Health will be designated as the official physician provider for UND student-athletes, highlighting a commitment to comprehensive health care and athletic performance.

The collaboration is a significant milestone for both institutions, as they strive to enhance the health and well-being of student-athletes. By combining forces, the two entities aim to ensure that student-athletes receive top-quality medical care through a wide range of services. Sanford Health Fargo President and CEO Tiffany Lawrence expressed excitement about partnering with UND student-athletes, citing Sanford Health’s reputation for serving college sports teams in the upper Midwest and confidence in the services benefiting overall student-athlete health.

Although this partnership is new, Sanford Health’s commitment to Grand Forks and surrounding communities is longstanding. Since opening the Sanford East Grand Forks Clinic in 2000, Sanford Health has continued to invest in the Greater Grand Forks region, offering primary care and specialty services. Recent developments such as the Sanford Grand Forks Clinic and the merger with Valley Bone and Joint in 2023 have further expanded access to healthcare for UND student-athletes. The wealth of providers and expertise available played a crucial role in creating the opportunity to partner with UND and UND athletics. This collaboration is set to bring advancements in healthcare for student-athletes and the surrounding community.
