Free agent safety Tashaun Gipson suspended by NFL for six games

Tashaun Gipson, a 33-year-old free agent safety, has been suspended by the NFL for the first six games of the 2024 season. The league did not provide a specific reason for the suspension, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that Gipson violated the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing substances.

Gipson has been with the San Francisco 49ers for the past two seasons and during his time there he started 34 out of 35 regular-season games and played in all six postseason games. In the 2023 season, he recorded one sack, one interception, and three passes defended in 16 games.

Throughout his 12 seasons in the NFL, Gipson has played for five different teams and has accumulated a total of 684 tackles, 33 interceptions, and 68 pass breakups. His lone Pro Bowl appearance came in 2014 when he was playing for the Cleveland Browns.
