On July 10, Samsung will fully unveil the Galaxy Ring, a smart ring that was teased back in January. Android Authority leaked screenshots of the device’s health-tracking capabilities, which show that it can measure heart rate, stress levels, predict periods, take skin temperature readings and even detect snoring when paired with an Android phone.
While some have had hands-on experience with the Galaxy Ring, more details are expected to be revealed at the next Samsung Unpacked event on July 10. The event is anticipated to showcase new foldable phones, smartwatches and hopefully more information about the Galaxy Ring.
The health-tracking features of the Galaxy Ring are similar to those of the Galaxy Watch 6 and potentially the Galaxy Watch 7. However, unlike these devices which are bulky and uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time, the Galaxy Ring is lightweight and compact making it suitable for sleep tracking or high-intensity workouts. Consumers may have to choose between a smart ring and a smartwatch as both offer different features and benefits. Smartwatches provide more functionality with their dedicated displays while smart rings are more discreet and less intrusive.
