Samsung Surges in Premium Phone Sales with AI-Powered S24 Family

Samsung reports a 35% increase in sales of smartphones priced over 600 euros

Samsung Spain’s Mobility area head, David Alonso, has announced a “significant improvement” in the company’s annual data. There has been a 35 percent growth in sales of ‘premium’ range phones, which correspond to devices over 600 euros, while the market is growing at 20 percent in that segment. Alonso added that Samsung is driving growth in the highest range of phones.

The S24 family has played a decisive role in this growth, with a 30 percent increase compared to the sales of S23 mobile phones in the previous year. Samsung attributes this success to the positive reception of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) functions in the Galaxy product family. More than 80 percent of users of these new smartphones regularly utilize these AI-powered tools, including features like ‘Circle to Search’ which allows for quick and intelligent searches by surrounding an image or text.

During a press conference, Alonso mentioned that most of the company’s mid-range mobile phones are already equipped at a hardware level to receive AI improvements. However, details on when users of lower price range devices will have access to these tools were not provided. For now, the AI tools are limited to ‘premium’ range devices.

Alonso also emphasized how these AI tools will help reduce the digital divide, especially in terms of security with the Knox platform. He also mentioned upcoming actions that Samsung will take as one of the main sponsors of the Paris Olympic Games.
