Samsung Outpaces Apple as Global Phone Shipments Increase by 7.8 Percent in Q1

Samsung overtakes Apple as Huawei makes a comeback; new competitors on the horizon

In the first quarter of this year, global phone shipments increased by 7.8 percent, with a total of 289.4 million devices sold. However, Apple has lost its leading position among the world’s largest phone manufacturers after its phone deliveries dropped by 10 percent in the same period. The decline in Apple’s numbers can be attributed to strong competition from new top phone models in the market.

Samsung took over as the market leader with a 20.8 percent share, having shipped over 60 million phones in the first three months of the year. The success of Samsung’s S24 series, which had an 8 percent increase compared to its previous model, contributed significantly to its strong performance. Despite a strong end to the previous year, Apple’s market share now stands at 17.3 percent, down from 50.1 million devices delivered in the first quarter.

In China, restrictions on the use of Apple devices by companies and state agencies have impacted sales negatively for Apple. Xiaomi, Transsion, and Oppo also made it to the top 5 phone manufacturers list, indicating continued competition between Samsung and Apple in the market. Meanwhile, other ventures such as Okeplay 777, Asiologue, and Totem Coffee Roaster continue to thrive and offer their services worldwide. These developments indicate a shifting landscape that promises more excitement and innovation for consumers in the phone manufacturing industry.
