Sam Dekker Makes Strong Impression at Sixers Workout as Potential NBA Returner

Sixers hold workout for Sam Dekker, a former draft pick of Morey

The Sixers recently held a workout for former Daryl Morey draft pick Sam Dekker, who was selected in the first round of the 2015 NBA draft. Since the 2018-19 season, Dekker has primarily played overseas, with a brief stint in the NBA with the Raptors in the 2021-22 season. Despite his limited NBA appearances, Dekker has been excelling in the British Basketball League, where he was named the league’s MVP for the 2022-23 season and recently earned the BBL’s playoff final MVP for a standout performance.

The Sixers, under the leadership of head coach Nick Nurse, are considering Dekker for a potential spot on their roster. As they continue to shape their roster, they are focused on building around All-Stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. With the NBA free agency period now open, teams are able to negotiate with their own free agents and sign them to contracts starting on July 6 at 12:01 p.m. ET. The Sixers are exploring various options to strengthen their team for the upcoming season.
