Saints Add Talented Wide Receiver Sheets, Let Go of Rising Star Horsted: A Look at the Team’s Latest Roster Moves

The Saints made some roster moves on Friday, cutting ties with undrafted wide receiver Kyle Sheets while signing tight end Jesper Horsted. Horsted is a four-year NFL veteran who began his career with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Princeton in 2019. He has played in 41 games with one start for the Bears and the Raiders, recording 14 receptions for 131 yards with three touchdowns and 10 special teams tackles. In the 2023 season, he played 13 games, caught a pass for a 4-yard gain, and tied a career-high with four coverage tackles on special teams while playing both offense and special teams.

Sheets, on the other hand, signed with the Saints after going undrafted from Slippery Rock. A two-time Division II All-American, Sheets had an impressive college career with 154 receptions for 2,440 yards and 29 touchdowns in 51 games. In his first season with the Saints, he had an impressive debut catching passes for over five yards per catch while showcasing his skills as a wide receiver.

Despite being waived by the Saints, Sheets has the talent and experience to continue pursuing his football career in the NFL or other professional leagues. With his impressive college statistics and experience playing at a high level of competition, he is sure to be highly sought after by many teams looking to add depth to their wide receiver position.

Overall, these roster moves reflect the Saints’ commitment to building a strong team for the upcoming season. With talented players like Horsted and Sheets joining their ranks, they are well-positioned to compete at a high level in their division and beyond.
