Sailing the Seas with the Beautiful Amerigo Vespucci: A Multi-Year Traveling World Exposition in Los Angeles

Amerigo Vespucci, a world-renowned ship, to arrive in San Pedro – NBC Los Angeles

The Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian navy training vessel and a renowned beauty in the world of ships, will be docked in the Port of Los Angeles on Wednesday as part of its 15-stop global tour. Since its inception in 1931, the ship has been traveling around the world with a brief pause during World War II.

This stop is not just about exploring the ship itself; visitors can also indulge in Italian culture and traditions by visiting the Villagio Italia, set up nearby as a “Multi-Year Traveling World Exposition.” The villa will feature screenings of five famous Italian films, six exhibitions, a display of Olympic torches from past Italian-hosted Olympics, and a stunning bronze sculpture “La David,” an ode to Michelangelo’s masterpiece by Italian sculptor Jago. Visitors can also enjoy authentic Eataly cuisine at a makeshift restaurant on site.

The opening ceremony on Wednesday will be attended by various Italian government officials, including Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto. To reserve a spot for a free tour of the Amerigo Vespucci, visitors can click here.
