A 59-year-old man sustained a complex eye injury and contusion during a chicken coop repair on May 12, resulting in bleeding, severe pain, and blurred vision. Upon examination on May 13 at Saigon Can Tho Eye Hospital, Dr. Le Viet Phap determined that the patient’s injury required sutures, wound restoration, tetanus injections, and proper home care.

Accidental accidents in daily life have led to an increase in emergency cases related to eye injuries at the hospital. Many patients have experienced significant vision impairment as a result of these accidents. A French doctor conducted an examination of the patient’s eyes and vision and offered recommendations for first aid for bleeding wounds such as applying gentle pressure with a clean towel or gauze to stop the bleeding. In cases where the wound is dirty, it is advised to use clean water or saline solution to wash away dirt or foreign objects, avoiding the use of hydrogen peroxide or iodine as they can cause irritation.

It is crucial to protect your eyes while working by wearing safety glasses to prevent accidents that could lead to injuries. If an accident does occur and affects your eyes, seeking timely examination and treatment at a hospital is essential. Before going to the hospital, ensure the wound is covered with a clean cloth, sterile bandage, or gauze to prevent further contamination or infection.
