Safety Concerns Raised after Southwest Airlines Flight Nearly Crashes near Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City

FAA Investigates Southwest Flight’s Descent to 525 Feet Above Town

This week, a Southwest Airlines flight experienced a dangerous incident near Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident, which prompted an altitude warning from an air traffic controller. The plane, a Boeing 737-800 jet, was just above Yukon, Oklahoma when the alert was issued.

The airline is following their safety management system and working with the FAA to address any irregularities that occurred during the approach to the airport. Southwest Airlines emphasized that safety is their top priority for both passengers and employees.

This incident comes after another close call for Southwest Airlines in April, when a flight almost crashed into the ocean off the coast of Hawaii. A less experienced pilot caused the plane to dive from an altitude of 1,000 feet to just 400 feet above the Pacific Ocean due to bad weather conditions. Southwest Airlines is working to address both of these serious incidents in order to ensure the safety of their flights moving forward.
