Russian Warning to Western Countries: The Risk of Escalating Tensions and Nuclear Strikes

Consequences of supplying Ukraine with long-range weapons, warns Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a stern warning to Western countries regarding the potential consequences of allowing Ukraine to use their weapons against Russian territory. The issue is currently being discussed among countries allied with Ukraine. A senior Russian military official confirmed that NATO countries are being trained to launch a nuclear strike against Russia, while the European Union Foreign Minister also mentioned the possibility of Western weapons being used on Russian territory.

During a visit to Uzbekistan, Putin urged NATO representatives to understand the risks of escalating tensions, especially in small countries with high population density. He warned that any strikes on Russian territory could lead to serious consequences, including an intensification of military maneuvers near Russian borders by NATO troops.

Josep Borrell, the EU foreign affairs chief, echoed concerns about the use of Western weapons in Ukraine against Russian territory and called for neutralizing Russian military bases launching missiles into Ukraine and preventing attacks on civilian targets in Russia. French President Macron emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and urged international support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity. Several countries, including Belgium and Poland, expressed support for Ukraine by pledging military assistance.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky called on US President Biden to participate in a peace summit on Ukraine in Switzerland scheduled for June 15-16. The summit has received confirmation of participation from around 90 countries, but Washington has not yet confirmed its attendance. Zelensky warned that Biden’s absence would be seen as supporting Putin while emphasizing the need for international support to de-escalate the conflict.

The situation remains tense as tensions continue to rise between Russia and its neighbors due to ongoing conflicts in Eastern Europe and Ukraine.
