Russian Missile Strike Causes Devastation in Ukraine: The Details of the April 27 Attack

Thermal power plant and psychiatric hospital in Ukraine damaged by Russian missile attack

On the night of April 27, Russian troops launched a combined missile strike on Ukraine. According to Nikolai Oleshchuk, commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Russian military used 34 air, ground, and sea-based missiles during the attack. The missiles included various types such as cruise missiles, guided air missiles, anti-aircraft missiles, and others.

The Ukrainian side reported that they successfully destroyed 21 Russian missiles during the attack. The city of Kharkov experienced rockets hitting a psychiatric hospital. This shelling led to damage to buildings including windows, roofs, and interior decorations. A woman was injured in the attack.

Russian troops also targeted energy infrastructure in the Lviv, Dnepropetrovsk, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Multiple facilities were damaged leading to interruptions in water supply and power outages in these areas. Some fires were also started due to these attacks.

DTEK, a Ukrainian energy company stated that four of their thermal power plants were attacked by Russian troops during the strike. Reports came in about multiple fires along with injuries sustained by individuals working at these facilities. Firefighting efforts were put into action and damage assessment was carried out in affected regions. Overall the missile strikes by Russian troops caused significant damage and casualties across different parts of Ukraine.
