Russian Embassy Denies Involvement in Paris Olympics Disinformation Campaign; Allegations of Dangerous Russophobic Campaign Continue

Military Claims 22 Russian Drones Shot Down by Ukraine Overnight

The Russian embassy in Paris has denied any involvement in a disinformation campaign against the upcoming Paris Olympics. In a statement, the embassy expressed solidarity with French citizens who have been targeted due to their support for friendly ties between Russia and France. The embassy also called for an end to what they described as a dangerous Russophobic campaign in the French media.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has also refuted claims of a Russian disinformation campaign against the Olympic Games. Despite a Microsoft report accusing Moscow of spreading fear to discourage attendance at the Games, Peskov described the allegations as slander. The report identified two Russian groups allegedly involved in the campaign, but Peskov denied any involvement on Russia’s part.

Following the placement of coffins at the Eiffel Tower, three men suspected of involvement appeared before an investigating judge in Paris. The driver, a 38-year-old Bulgarian, along with a 25-year-old man from Germany and a 17-year-old from Ukraine were questioned but not arrested. The investigation is ongoing to determine the motives behind the incident.
