Russian Attack on Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure Leaves Four Injured, Including a Child: Tensions Escalate as Russia Continues to Launch Militarily Targeted Strikes

Sumy region hit by Russian night raids and ground attack in Ukraine

Russian drones and cruise missiles were used in a significant attack on Ukraine overnight, resulting in damage to energy infrastructure in several regions. The attack left at least four people injured, including a 7-year-old girl, when two buildings and a bus were hit in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. In Vinnytsia oblast, a downed Russian drone caused a fire at an important infrastructure facility while around twenty buildings were hit in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko confirmed that energy infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts was targeted in the attack. Efforts are underway to assess and repair the damage. On Friday, Russian forces carried out 24 separate attacks on the Ukrainian oblast of Sumy, with 131 strikes throughout the day. Several communities are under threat as explosives dropped from drones targeted two communities with no casualties or injuries reported.
