Russian Agents Plot to Assassinate Ukrainian Prime Minister Zelensky, SBU Announces

Ukraine claims to have foiled plot to assassinate Zelensky

Ukrainian security officials have announced the arrest of two colonels on suspicion of involvement in an assassination plan, according to recent reports. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated that the plot was being carried out in coordination with Russian agents and that the targets included Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelensky and Chief of Staff Oleksiy Honcharuk.

President Zelensky’s office confirmed the reports and announced that his security has been increased as a result of the threat. According to a statement from Zelensky’s press secretary, “We take these allegations very seriously, and we will do everything in our power to ensure the safety and well-being of our president.”

Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, concerns for Zelensky’s safety have been heightened as he has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance. Previous reports have indicated that there have been attempts on his life, but this is considered to be the most significant threat revealed so far.

The Kremlin has not yet responded to Ukraine’s claims regarding the alleged assassination plan attributed to Russian security services. Tensions remain high as both countries navigate escalating tensions and security concerns.
