Russell Westbrook: Clippers’ Invaluable Offensive Weapon to Remain in Los Angeles for Another Year

Russell Westbrook exercises $4 million player option to remain with Los Angeles Clippers

Russell Westbrook, a seasoned guard and nine-time All-Star, has opted to remain with the Los Angeles Clippers for another year. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Westbrook picked up his $4 million player option for the upcoming season. The veteran player had previously played 11 seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he was named MVP in 2017 and averaged a triple-double in four separate seasons. He also had a stint with the Washington Wizards before joining the Lakers and eventually ending up with the Clippers.

During his time with the Clippers last season, Westbrook averaged 11.1 points, 5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in 68 games. As an effective point guard off the bench, he provided valuable support to James Harden and helped bolster their backcourt. With his decision to remain with the team for another season, Westbrook will continue to provide leadership and experience to the Lakers as they look towards future successes on and off the court.
