Rupert Friend, Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey Join Forces for New Jurassic World Film

Rupert Friend Lands Starring Role in New ‘Jurassic World’ Movie

Rupert Friend, the British actor who starred in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, is set to join Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey in the new Jurassic World feature film produced by Universal Pictures. The movie, directed by Gareth Edwards, will feature Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the cast.

The script for this new installment of Jurassic World was written by David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Details of the plot are being kept tightly under wraps. The movie is set to begin production in mid-June in London, with a planned theatrical release date of July 2, 2025.

The production of this film is being overseen by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley through Kennedy-Marshall Productions. Steven Spielberg, who launched the franchise in 1993 with Jurassic Park, is on board as an executive producer through Amblin Entertainment. Universal executives Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell are also involved.

Rupert Friend has become a frequent collaborator with Wes Anderson, appearing in The French Dispatch and Asteroid City. He can currently be seen in Anderson’s short films based on Roald Dahl stories on Netflix. Friend has also played roles in Star Wars Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi and recently finished filming a sci-fi thriller Companion and Michel Franco’s drama Dreams opposite Jessica Chastain. Friend is represented by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment, and Hansen Jacobson.
