Roswell’s UFO Festival: Celebrating the Past and Present of Alien Hunting

Roswell, NM Commemorates World UFO Day

As Americans prepare for their Independence Day celebrations, UFO enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating World UFO Day on July 2. This holiday commemorates the 1947 Roswell incident, where an Army weather balloon crashed in New Mexico and sparked conspiracy theories about a government cover-up regarding an alien spacecraft.

Roswell, known as the UFO capital of the world, is hosting its annual UFO Festival this weekend. The event nearly doubles the population of the town, according to City Councilor Juliana Halvorson during an interview on NewsNation’s “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.”

The festival includes costume contests, speakers, panels, and family-friendly activities. Halvorson mentioned that both believers and skeptics are welcome to attend and enjoy the festivities.

Interest in UFO tourism has increased following recent claims by whistleblower David Grusch about alleged government programs involving nonhuman technology and “biologics,” although the U.S. government has denied these claims. While Roswell doesn’t see many UFO sightings nowadays, Halvorson encourages visitors to visit the town’s UFO museum, home to the world’s largest UFO library, with an open mind to learn more about what’s happening in the world.
