Ron McCoy Aims to Boost Business Opportunities as Democrat Candidate for Lyon County Commission

Ron McCoy’s primary focus as Lyon County Commissioner will be on driving business growth

Ron McCoy, a Democrat, has his sights set on running for a seat on the Lyon County Commission. He recently filed for election to fill the current seat held by Republican incumbent Doug Peck. In an interview with KVOE News, McCoy expressed his desire to give back to the community and believes the timing is perfect for him to make a move into local government.

If elected, McCoy’s main focus will be on attracting and growing businesses throughout the county, particularly those that can provide higher wages than the minimum or base rate. He hopes to create opportunities for businesses that can afford to pay their employees better salaries.

McCoy is running as the lone Democrat in the second district race, while Peck faces a primary challenge from Sid Morgan. The Republican side of the Lyon County Commission Third District seat, soon to be vacated by Rollie Martin, has a crowded field of candidates. Four Republicans have filed – Chris Bartel, Warren Schmidt, Jarom Smith, and Jon Vopat – along with Democrat Bill Nienstedt. The deadline for candidate filing and withdrawals is noon on Monday.
