Rockstar Science: Round Rock ISD Students Shine at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair

Recently, Round Rock ISD students participated in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair held in Los Angeles and showcased their scientific knowledge on a global stage. This event, organized by the Society for Science, is the largest pre-collegiate science and engineering competition in the world. Students from 49 U.S. states and nearly 70 countries, regions, and territories presented their projects at the fair.

Participants from Round Rock High School were chosen to compete after excelling at the Greater Austin Regional Science and Engineering Fair in March. Gargi Sharma presented her project in the Biochemistry category, while Naithruv Kashyap and Suchir Kumar showcased their project in the Environmental Engineering category and secured fourth place.

Naithruv and Suchir were also awarded a Special Award from Arizona State University, scholarships valued at up to $58,000 each. Additionally, Uma Sthanu placed third in the Mathematics category for his project on Multiple Sclerosis Dynamics. Overall, over $9 million in prizes were awarded based on the creativity, innovation, and scientific inquiry demonstrated by the students’ projects.

The fair featured over 2,000 student entries across various categories such as physics, environmental sciences, and animal sciences. The students from Round Rock ISD performed exceptionally well and demonstrated their passion for science and engineering.
