Rocking World Detour: Bay Haven School of Basics Plus Students Shine at Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Competition

Bay Haven’s Rocking World Tour Team Earns 3rd Place at Odyssey of the Mind World Finals

Bay Haven School of Basics Plus students from Sarasota, Florida showcased their problem-solving skills at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Competition and placed 3rd out of 56 teams in the Elementary category. The event drew participants from 46 states and 10 countries, with over 700 teams competing in total.

The Rocking World Detour team, sponsored by Arm and Hammer, had to incorporate an element into their performance. To solve their problem, they had to create a rock band that was unexpectedly transported to a different location, write an original song with lyrics, and play a team-created instrument while singing the song. They were also judged on their creative hair and make-up choices and had to use music to transport back on tour, demonstrating their improvisation skills and quick thinking abilities.

In addition to their main performance, Rocking World Detour had to tackle a spontaneous problem that required them to think on-the-spot and come up with creative solutions. These challenges helped develop teamwork and the ability to handle unexpected situations. Despite scoring slightly below the top team in this category, the students’ achievements are commendable and highlight their talent and hard work.
