Roane State Community College Receives $100,000 Donation for New Health Science Center

Roane State Community College is thrilled to announce that the Stowers Machinery Foundation has donated $100,000 to support the development of its new Knox Regional Health Science Education Center. This state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction in West Knoxville, is set to open its doors in the fall of 2025. Located at 9575 Sherrill Boulevard, opposite Parkwest Medical Center, the 130,000-square-foot center will accommodate health science programs offered by Roane State and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Knoxville.

Upon completion, the center is projected to cater to over 8,000 students annually. A significant highlight of the facility will be its expansive simulation center, featuring adaptable spaces designed to simulate various healthcare training environments. Wes Stowers, CEO of Stowers Machinery Corporation in Knoxville, expressed his enthusiasm for the profound impact this facility will have on the community. “Educating proficient healthcare professionals is critical for our community’s wellbeing,” he said. “This initiative is a vital step towards meeting this pressing need.”

Covenant Health has also made substantial contributions to the project, which commenced construction in the summer of 2023. The overall project budget is estimated at $75 million, with the state of Tennessee allocating $67.5 million towards its realization. To ensure the sustainability of funding for future students, Roane State aims to secure at least $7.5 million in private philanthropy.
