Risky Rescue: Stranded Belgian Hikers on Dent d’Hérens at 3,750 Meters

Three Hikers from Belgium Forced to Stay Overnight on Mountain Due to Guide’s Injury

Belgian hikers stranded on Dent d’Hérens mountain at 3,750 meters after their guide fell and injured himself. Despite several rescue attempts, the bad weather forced them to spend the night on the mountain.

On Tuesday evening, an emergency call was made to the local rescue service when the three hikers were unable to move due to their guide’s injury. A rescue team tried to reach them, but cloudy weather hindered helicopter visibility and made a foot rescue impossible due to the distance involved. The rescue operation had to be postponed until Wednesday, leaving the hikers to endure harsh conditions overnight with temperatures dropping below freezing.

A helicopter was dispatched on Wednesday morning, but initial attempts to reach the stranded hikers were unsuccessful. However, after multiple attempts, rescuers were finally able to reach just before noon on Wednesday. The injured guide was taken to the hospital for treatment while the hikers were reported in good condition despite their ordeal.
