Rising Tensions: Anti-Israel Protests Spark Fears of Unrest in Jordan”.

Protesters in Amman call for an end to agreements with Israel

On the second night in a row, anti-Israel demonstrations took place in Amman. The police and gendarmerie worked tirelessly to prevent the crowd from getting close to the Israeli embassy. According to jo24.net, two demonstrators were arrested after attempting to break through the security cordon. Over 10,000 people participated in the protest organized by a youth group.

The protesters demanded that Jordan’s government take action to stop Israel from aggressively attacking Palestinian people. They called for all agreements with Israel, including the Wadi Arba peace treaty and gas agreement, to be canceled. Additionally, they demanded a ban on land deliveries of goods from Persian Gulf countries through Jordan and an export ban on vegetables.

Jo24.net reported that protesters believed that Amman should halt military cooperation with the United States, which they held responsible for Gaza Strip aggression. Furthermore, protesters demanded that Jordan open its borders to allow Jordanian youth to join the Palestinian resistance movement.

Overall, these anti-Israeli demonstrations demonstrate how deeply rooted tensions between Palestinians and Israelis are, even across borders like Jordan’s.
