Rising Star NFL Player Vontae Davis Dies Tragically at the Age of 31

Ex-NFL player Vontae Davis discovered deceased in Florida residence

Washington, D.C. native Vontae Davis had a successful 10-year career in the NFL before being discovered dead in his South Florida home on Monday morning. Police in Davie, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, responded to a medical emergency at Davis’ residence but unfortunately, he had already passed away by the time they arrived. The exact cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy, and authorities have ruled out foul play as a cause of death.

Davis began his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins who drafted him 25th overall in 2009 from the University of Illinois. After three seasons with the Dolphins, he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts just before the 2012 season where he played for six years. In 2018, he signed with the Buffalo Bills but abruptly left the team at halftime during the second game of the season citing numerous injuries and surgeries that left him unable to play at the same level as before.

Throughout his career, Davis participated in 122 games and intercepted 22 passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2015 while playing for the Colts. Despite facing challenges towards
