Rising Concern: Car Break-ins Plague Dekalb County Business Community

Over the past two months, a string of car break-ins in a Dekalb County community has left business owners and workers feeling frustrated. With 18 incidents already this year, all occurring within a one mile radius of Snapfinger Woods Dr. and Interstate 20, the community is eager for more police patrols to address the issue and slow down the break-ins.

Surveillance videos have captured thieves using nearby woods and holes in fences as shortcuts and hiding spots. They break car windows, steal items quickly, and then run off while hiding their faces with hoodies. One customer in the busy business area, Quentalyn Stephens, expressed her frustration after her car was stolen in the same area last year. She felt violated and urged for action to be taken.

However, business owners and workers are hesitant to speak out publicly for fear of retaliation. Despite surveillance video warnings, the presence of light and people around, the thieves continue their activities undeterred. The ongoing incidents have caused a sense of unease and concern among residents and business owners in the area.
