Risant Health to Acquire Cone Health

Risant Health, a nonprofit organization created by Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, has acquired Cone Health. The definitive agreement was signed on Friday and pending regulatory approvals, Cone Health will become part of Risant Health.

Risant Health’s CEO, Dr. Jaewon Ryu JD, expressed that the alignment of Cone Health’s work in moving value-based care forward with Risant Health’s vision for the future of healthcare is what made it an ideal fit to join the organization. Cone Health has been providing high-quality care to North Carolina communities for decades, making it a valuable addition to Risant Health. Together they plan to expand access to value-based care in the communities they serve.

Cone Health is one of the largest healthcare networks in the Piedmont Triad, employing over 13,000 people and providing healthcare to more than 200,000 patients in the Triad. The acquisition by Risant Health presents an opportunity to shape the future of healthcare in the Triad, the state and nation. Dr. Mary Jo Cagle, president and CEO of Cone Health believes that being part of Risant Health will build upon their success in making evidence-based healthcare more accessible and affordable while maintaining its branding unchanged and keeping its board, CEO and leadership team intact who will continue operating independently under ownership of Risant health.
