Galaxy to Extend Riqui Puig’s Contract Through 2027

The Galaxy has signed a contract extension with midfielder Riqui Puig through the end of the 2027 MLS season. Since joining the team in 2022, Puig has been an integral part of the Galaxy’s success, scoring 17 goals and providing 21 assists in 61 games (59 starts) across all competitions.

At just 24 years old, Puig has proven himself to be a standout player for the Galaxy, leading the team with five goals and eight assists in 15 games this season. He also leads MLS in various statistical categories such as touches, passes attempted, passes completed, multi-assist games, distance covered in possession, and fouls suffered.

Puig’s extension was met with excitement by Galaxy general manager Will Kuntz, who emphasized his importance to the team’s pursuit of a championship. “Riqui is an exceptional talent and a valuable member of our squad,” Kuntz said. “We are thrilled to have him under contract through 2027.”

Puig himself was selected as an MLS All-Star in 2023 and praised by head coach Greg Vanney for his talent, competitiveness, and contributions to the team. With Puig now committed to the Galaxy through 2027, the team looks forward to continuing their success with him as a key player.

The Galaxy is currently second in the Western Conference and will face off against Chicago Fire on Saturday as they aim to extend their unbeaten streak.
