Rinku Singh Reacts to T20 World Cup Snub: ‘It’s Part of the Game’

Rinku Singh Speaks Out After Being Overlooked for T20 World Cup Squad

The recent decision by Indian cricket team selectors to exclude Rinku Singh from the T20 World Cup 2024 squad has sparked criticism from fans and experts. However, the BCCI chose Shivam Dube and Axar Patel as all-rounder options, with Rinku ending up as part of the reserves. Despite a disappointing IPL campaign where he scored just 168 runs for KKR, who ultimately won the competition, Rinku has now spoken out about the T20 World Cup snub. In a recent interview, he mentioned that the decision was based on team composition and shared details of a conversation he had with captain Rohit Sharma regarding the choice.

Rinku expressed some initial disappointment at not being selected despite his good performance. However, he acknowledged that such decisions are part of the game and one should not dwell on things beyond their control. Rohit Sharma had a brief conversation with Rinku, advising him to keep working hard and not worry too much about the World Cup exclusion. Following their victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 final, where Kolkata Knight Riders won by eight wickets to secure their third IPL trophy, Rinku shared his joy at finally lifting the trophy after seven years with the franchise.

Despite missing out on playing in international cricket’s biggest tournament, Rinku’s response to missing out on selection was one of acceptance and determination to continue improving his game. His focus remains on working hard and staying prepared for future opportunities in international cricket.
