Ride Naked through San Francisco: 20th Anniversary of the World Naked Bike Ride Promotes Community, Renewable Energy and Body Positivity

Everything You Should Know About the World Naked Bike Ride San Francisco

The wheelie nude adventure through the city will begin at Rincon Park’s giant bow and arrow, Cupid’s Span, designed by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. Cyclists will ride past Chase Center and Oracle Park, through North Beach, City Hall, the Haight, before finishing in the Castro. The 16.5-mile route is a part of the World Naked Bike Ride celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The organizers of the Naked Bike Ride urge riders to stay in their right lane as much as possible and avoid throwing objects at passing cars while cycling. It is recommended that participants ensure their bicycles are well-tuned before starting the ride. Although rain is forecasted, cyclists are advised to wear sunscreen for protection.

For those who may feel hesitant about participating completely nude during the event, organizers encourage an “as bare as you dare” mentality. Transparent ponchos or windbreakers can be used in case of rain to maintain body positivity while cycling through San Francisco’s neighborhoods. The ride also promotes community building, renewable energy and advocacy for cyclist and pedestrian safety during climate change awareness events worldwide in countries like Canada, Australia and others.
