Ricky Ponting Advocates for Rishabh Pant’s Inclusion in India’s T20 World Cup Squad

Ricky Ponting believes Rishabh Pant should fly to USA for T20 World Cup, according to IPL-17

Ricky Ponting, the head coach of the Delhi Capitals, believes that Rishabh Pant should be included in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup in the USA. Ponting has expressed his confidence in Pant’s abilities and the impact he can have on games for India. According to him, Pant is close to full fitness, running well between wickets, keeping well, and displaying good hand-eye coordination. He also mentioned that Pant has a smile on his face again after going through a tough time following an accident.

Ponting emphasized the need for batting anchors in T20 cricket who can adapt and adjust when required. He believes that having aggressive players in the team is essential as they can help in pulling the reins in if the team loses early wickets. However, Ponting highlighted that adaptable batsmen are also crucial as they can adjust their game based on the situation.

On extending the Impact Player concept to T20 cricket, Ponting expressed his preference for keeping it limited to domestic leagues and not incorporating it into international cricket. According to him, having a strong squad of 11 or 15 players is crucial in international cricket, especially during a World Cup scenario. He believes that managing players effectively and ensuring that the team remains strong throughout the tournament is key to winning at this level.
