Alfredo Valenzuela, one TikTok user who tried the Rice-Zempic trend, initially lost weight but eventually stopped after only losing 2.5 kilos in 12 days. Maartje Boot from the Dutch Nutrition Center advises against following these kinds of TikTok trends, emphasizing the importance of drinking water in a regular and healthy way.

Nutrition experts explain that rice water does not have any specific properties that aid in weight loss like medications such as Ozempic, which have hormonal effects. While consuming rice water instead of a meal may result in consuming fewer calories and some weight loss, it is not a medically supported method for sustainable weight loss. Experts advise against following trends like Rice-Zempic and advocate for evidence-based approaches to weight management.
