Revving Up the Hydrogen Economy: MOSTI’s Focus on Hydrogen Technology in Malaysia’s Mobility Sector

MOSTI delves into hydrogen technology for transportation sector

The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) is focusing on exploring the potential applications of hydrogen technology in the mobility sector. They aim to increase the adoption of hydrogen technology in Malaysia by collaborating with relevant ministries and agencies, thus creating a group of end-users in the country.

Recently, MOSTI organized a demonstration session at the lobby of the Investment, Trade, and Industry Ministry. During this session, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, and Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz were present. The goal of the session was to showcase the potential of hydrogen technology in the mobility sector in alignment with Malaysia’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 as outlined in the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR).

In addition to raising awareness about hydrogen technology, MOSTI also plans to collaborate with private sector companies to establish mobile hydrogen refueling stations. This initiative will not only highlight the capabilities and expertise of local talent but also position Malaysia as a leader in the hydrogen economy.
