In the upcoming European elections, set to take place on June 9th, Kauppalehti’s Eurovalekone tool is now available for public use. This innovative device helps voters make informed decisions by presenting them with 20 pre-answered statements from candidates and allowing them to provide their own answers. By doing so, users can determine which candidates and parties best align with their views and values.
The Eurovalekone’s statements cover a wide range of topics, including EU operations, foreign and security policy, environment and climate, and values. Users can choose from options like “completely disagree” to “completely agree” when answering these statements to receive accurate results on candidate suitability. Additionally, the voting machine offers a value map that displays the ranking of candidates on conservative-liberal and right-left axes.
On the results page, users can view candidates and parties that match their preferences as well as those that are less suitable. They can also delve deeper into candidates’ responses and compare different candidates directly on the website. Although the selection of candidates continues until May 30th, more candidates are expected to be added to the tool as the process progresses.
Early voting for the European Parliament elections begins on May 29th, with advance voting abroad ending on June 1st and in Finland on June 4th. The candidate list will be confirmed on May 10th, along with candidate numbers for the election, ensuring that voters have all the necessary information to make an informed decision before casting their ballots on voting day.
