Revolutionizing Tax Administration: New Rationalization Measures Implemented by the Revenue Agency

Tax authorities will not be available for communication in August and December.

The Revenue Agency has issued circular no. 9/E outlining new instructions for offices regarding health measures and rationalization measures in implementation of the Fiscal Delegation. The circular breaks down the rationalization and simplification measures into four categories: payment of taxes, mandatory communications, digital services, and suspension periods for communications and invitations to taxpayers.

One of the new features is an extension of the “PagoPA” platform for payments, which will progressively be used to simplify interactions with citizens. This includes changes to communication schedules and payment installment terms, as well as new terms for installment payments of taxes and contributions. VAT holders can also reduce the number of periodic payments.

In addition to these changes, the Fulfillments decree introduces new digital services and strengthens existing ones to facilitate remote assistance, document registration, certificate requests, and document exchanges between taxpayers and Agency offices. The range of documents and communications available in the tax drawer will also be expanded to improve services for taxpayers.

The Revenue Agency has announced that it will not send communications to taxpayers in August and December except in cases of urgency. This includes communications related to automated and formal checks, tax settlements, and invitations for spontaneous compliance. Overall, these changes aim to simplify processes for both taxpayers and staff at the Revenue Agency office.
