Revolutionizing Lighting Control: Quasar Science Unveils Firmware v0.9a for Double Rainbow and Rainbow 2 RGBX Linear LED Fixtures

American Society of Cinematographers foreshadowing the new age of film

Quasar Science has recently released Firmware v0.9a for its Double Rainbow and Rainbow 2 RGBX linear LED fixtures. This update features advanced routing modes and the ability for any RR or R2 fixture to function as a CRMX transmitter. Additionally, there are enhancements to the dimming engine and expanded networking options.

With the new signal-routing options, RR and R2 fixtures can now bridge various wired and wireless lighting protocols, such as ethernet-to-DMX node, Wireless DMX transmitter, or Wireless RX to wired output. One of the key features introduced in Firmware v0.9a is the capability for any RR or R2 fixture to route a wired input signal and transmit it as Wireless DMX. Users can independently assign the input and output universe when using sACN or Art-Net. Moreover, a universe color can now be assigned to the wireless status LED to indicate which fixtures are linked to which RR-R2s in TX mode.

Another notable addition is the Latest Takes Precedence merging feature, which allows two control devices on the same local network to send Multicast sACN at the same priority. The firmware update also includes improvements to the dimming function, particularly in the 0-30 percent range for smoother low-end dimming.
