The 2023-2024 contract season has brought about significant changes in the way coach compensation and school buyout figures are determined. If a number is not displayed in the table, it means that the amount could not be obtained. To access additional information about coach compensation, click on the asterisk next to the number shown.

School buyout figures represent the amount a school would owe a coach if they were fired without cause on April 1, 2024. These amounts are often subject to the coach’s duty to make efforts to find another job, with income from that employment offsetting the amount owed. Coaches may also have obligations to make good-faith efforts to mitigate the amount owed if it is not addressed in the contract.

The records of coaches going into the 2023-24 season were compiled by USA TODAY’s Ellen Horrow and Casey Moore from information displayed in the NCAA statistics database. However, these records may be impacted by games vacated or forfeited by the NCAA or schools. The “Record at school” data for Murray State’s Steve Prohm is based on his current tenure at the school.

This information was compiled by Steve Berkowitz, Sean Dougherty, Leo Wotzak, and Brad Jennings of USA TODAY, as well as Robert Lattinville of WME, who represents college coaches, athletics directors, and NCAA member schools. For more details on the methodology behind this data, please click here.
