Revolutionizing Burn and Wound Care: The JMS Burn Center Introduces RECELL GO

New skin cell technology used for the first time at Augusta Burn Center

The JMS Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia is revolutionizing the treatment of burn and wound patients with a new regenerating skin cell technology. Traditionally, when wounds do not close on their own, doctors perform skin grafts using unburned skin from the patient. However, a new system known as RECELL GO allows doctors to spray a patient’s own healthy skin cells onto the wound or graft.

This innovative system is specifically designed to treat burns and full-thickness wounds. Unlike previous methods, RECELL GO utilizes fewer of the patient’s own skin cells, automating the process and increasing efficiency in the operating room. This means doctors can focus more on patient care, resulting in less pain for patients, faster healing, and reduced scarring. Overall, this leads to a shorter hospital stay for patients.

Dr. Shawn Fagan, JMS Chief Medical Officer, emphasizes the importance of providing top-notch care to patients. The technology can be used for any type of wound or burn, regardless of size. Since the first procedure was performed on May 31, the JMS Burn Center has successfully treated seven patients with a total of eleven procedures.

Dr. Nraj Doshi, the principal inventor of RECELL GO, envisions this technology being implemented across the country due to its automation and ease of adoption. The initial concepts for the system began just three years ago
