Revolutionary Sports Hall Design: Integration, Technology and Functionality Combined

The Sports Hall in Řevnice by Grido Architects

A private client commissioned the sports hall in Řevnice to serve the pupils of the primary school, after-school sports clubs, and the entire town community. The design included an indoor arena and an adjacent athletic oval on the school grounds. To blend in with the surrounding residential development, the hall’s mass was kept to a minimum with rounded corners.

The entrance to the hall is defined by a service wing positioned to the east, which maintains sightlines for lower primary school classes and ensures hygiene limits are met. Changing rooms, a clubhouse, and a boiler room are located on the underground floor. A wide staircase connects the entrance areas and offers views of the Brda Mountains. The space features advanced technologies but does not include ceilings.

Lead architect Ing. Arch Peter Sticzay-Gromski carefully planned the design to minimize disruption to the surrounding environment. The hall’s volume is reduced by using rounded corners and blending into its surroundings. The design complements nearby buildings that often have extensions, loggias, and pergolas that help dissolve their volume in the context of the area.
