DR. BRENNEN SMITH JOINS RIVERVIEW HEALTH ORTHOPAEDICS TEAM

Dr. Smith, a new member of RiverView Health’s Orthopaedics Team, specializes in general procedures and trauma, including scope, repair, and replacement of upper extremities, hips, and knees. In June, he will launch a Mako Robotic-Arm Joint Replacement Program for adults with mid to late-stage osteoarthritis of the knee or hip. This cutting-edge technology allows for a personalized surgical plan based on each patient’s unique anatomy, resulting in improved outcomes. Some of the benefits of robotic-arm-assisted surgery include smaller incisions, less scarring, reduced blood loss, minimal hospitalization, and rapid recovery.

Carrie Michalski, RiverView’s president/CEO expressed excitement about incorporating this new technology into their joint program aimed at enhancing outcomes for RiverView patients and the surrounding region. Dr. Smith emphasizes the importance of seeking help to live pain-free as many patients comment after surgery that they wish they had sought treatment sooner. Originally from Mitchellville IA, Dr Smith transitioned from practicing as a veterinarian to earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Des Moines University before completing his residency and fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery in Ohio. He now serves patients in Crookston East Grand Forks and Thief River Falls . For more information about Dr Smith’s services or to schedule an appointment please call 281 9595
