Reviving Erie County: A New Business Park Set to Transform the Region and Attract More Jobs

Erie County’s Economic Growth Set to Soar with Business Park Development

Erie County is set to undergo a major transformation with the development of a new business park, which has not been undertaken in over 25 years. This initiative is part of an effort to foster economic vitality and sustainability, create job opportunities, and attract businesses to the region.

The planned business park will be located at the intersection of Interstate 90 and Sterrettania Road in McKean Township and will cater to the needs of manufacturing and logistics businesses. The project was prompted by a Competitive Realities Report from 2019 and Governor Josh Shapiro’s economic strategy, which identified a need for ready-to-build sites to attract business expansion projects.

Erie County was able to purchase the 160-acre property with $3.2 million from the American Rescue Plan Act, creating more business growth opportunities that will ultimately lead to job creation in the county. Tina Mengine, president of the Erie County Redevelopment Authority, expressed her appreciation for the leadership of Erie County Executive Brenton Davis and the support of the county council in this endeavor.

Once operational, the business park aims to position Erie County as an economic and competitive hub that will drive job growth and prosperity in the area. Erie County Council previously approved a resolution for a Property Development Agreement to build a 194-acre property in Fairview and Girard townships along U.S. Route 20 as part of Davis’ plan to increase business opportunities in the region
