Revitalizing Western Negev Settlements with NIS 1.5 Billion in Aid after Hamas Massacre

10 Villages Devastated by Hamas to Receive NIS 1.5 Billion for Rebuilding

This week, the Tkuma Directorate announced the launch of a project aimed at restoring settlements in the Western Negev that were damaged during the Hamas massacre on October 7-8, 2023. The ten most affected communities will receive a total of NIS 1.5 billion for reconstruction efforts, significantly higher than the normal compensation they would have received from the IRS.

The majority of this funding will be allocated to three settlements – Kfar Aza, Be’eri, and Nir Oz – where many buildings require demolition or major repairs. In addition to these three settlements, seven more – Nirim, Reim, Kerem Shalom, Ein HaShlosha, Cholit, Kisufim, and Nahal Oz – will receive tens of millions of shekels for restoration efforts.

Each of the ten settlements will have control over the funds allocated to them and will make decisions regarding their recovery independently. To be eligible for funding, settlements must sign a support agreement with a management company licensed by the Land Administration to assist with financial management, contracts
