Revitalized WakeBrook Behavioral Health Campus Opens its Doors to the Community with New Operators and Services

New operators to reopen WakeBrook Behavioral Health Campus in East Raleigh

On Monday, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the reopening of the WakeBrook Behavioral Health Campus in east Raleigh. The facility will officially start accepting patients in May and will provide services to people dealing with mental health crises or substance abuse disorders.

The President and CEO of WakeMed Health and Hospitals, Donald Gintzig, mentioned that UNC Health had different priorities leading to the closure of the facility and the change in operators to WakeMed and Recovery Innovations (RI). The new Wake Recovery Response Center will provide services to individuals with mental health concerns, including those who may be off their medications, new to the area, experiencing suicidal thoughts, or feeling nervous.

The Wake Recovery Response Center operated by RI consists of 16 recliner chairs, an urgent care facility, and 16 beds. WakeMed will manage the inpatient unit for individuals who need to stay overnight. The reopening of the WakeBrook Behavioral Health Campus will provide much-needed services to those in the community who are struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues.
